The reviewed work reflects the structure, content and individual provisions of V.V. Doroshkov's monograph "Ideas of individual freedom and social solidarity in criminal proceedings". It is noted that these ideas are considered in the context of the dialectical law of unity and the struggle of opposites, and the study as a whole is carried out at the "junction" of worldview, general social and legal knowledge. The author of the book raises a number of complex, controversial and important issues of the existence and development of the judicial sphere. The main conclusion of V.V. Doroshkov boils down to the need to combine the opposing ideas of individual freedom and social solidarity. The review focuses on the methodological aspect of the study.
